In the words of the women of Vanuatu in the service for this week’s
World Day of Prayer, we ask you, Father, to help us to live in unity
alongside those of other ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Heal the
souls of those suffering addictions. Protect those living in places prone
to natural disasters. We especially pray for the people of Vanuatu
devastated by Cyclone Harold last April, and for Australian
communities still suffering from the bushfires.
With our friends in the other local churches we commend to You to-
day the congregation of St. Clement’s Anglican church and their
interim minister, the Rev. Michael Crighton. Bless them and keep them
as they seek to do Your will.
On our Lenten journey please strip us of our self-importance and recall
us to our limits. May we stop loudly panicking and start quietly working
towards your new creation of reconciliation, justice and peace. For we
cannot solve everything, but You resolve all things; and it is not in
grand gestures but in humble service that You are made known. Teach
us a clearer understanding of the way of the Cross, so that our way too
may be lighted and may light the way for others.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
