We may not have all we would like to meet the needs of daily life, and more especially these anxious days. But when we have this gift of Jesus - HIS PEACE - that means we have his resources. They are more than adequate for the long road forced upon us in these days and ever afterwards. But be clear, Jesus gift of peace may not take us out of dark situations but it will enable us to cope victoriously. Let us pray that God will give that peace to us and to all in desperate need. Unlike the basic necessities of everyday life, this gift of Jesus is always available. And we believe we can be Christ’s instruments to pass it on freely within the Church as we look at others and pray these familiar words: The Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. PRAYER A prayer for the World suffering from the Covid-19 Pandemic Let us now pray for help, healing and peace as we all struggle with the horrific impact of the deadly virus that has infected so many people the world over. Merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ we cry out for relief from this plague. We pray for healing for those who are infected, in all the places where the virus has spread. We pray for all who already have lost loved ones to the illness and those who will yet suffer such loss. We pray for doctors, nurses and aides providing medical care, for insight in their caring, and for their health and well-being. We pray for wisdom for the medical and scientific experts and researchers who are desperately seeking ways to control the spread of the virus. We pray for public officials who must make the hard decisions about the quarantining of those who may have been exposed to the virus; and we pray for all those for whom those decisions feel like unjust imprisonment. We lift up the Christian church throughout the world asking that your people may be enabled to bring Christ’s healing presence and peace - your resources, to others We pray in the Passion of our Savior Jesus Christ who redeems us, and in the Power of the Holy Spirit through whom God’s will is done. AMEN. (This prayer is adapted from one published by the Assembly Clerk of the USA Presbyterian Church ) HYMN 342 “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross” PRAYER Christ became obedient even to his death……. Be merciful to me, O God, because of your constant love. Because of your great mercy Wipe away my sins! Wash away all my evil And make me clean from my sin! Create a pure heart within me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me. My sacrifice is a humble spirit, O God; You will not reject a humble and repentant heart. (Psalm 51) Amen Christ became obedient even to his death.
