CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 31: 9-16 read by Pastor de Lasala
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye wastes away from grief, my soul and
body also. For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing;my strength fails
because of my misery, and my bones waste away.
I am the scorn of all my adversaries, a horror to my neighbours,an object of dread to my
acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. I have passed out of mind like one
who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. For I hear the whispering of many— terror all
around!—as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.
But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times are in your hand; deliver me from
the hand of my enemies and persecutors. Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your
steadfast love.
HYMN 333 ‘All glory, laud, and honour’
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Lord, we bring you our prayers of regret and confession….
Regret, that even though you are there to lead and guide us
We still turn away and go where we want to go
We confess our lack of commitment to you and our lack of complete trust in your guidance
(silence)
We regret that although you provide us with a table of blessings, we look away and seek
comfort in other things.
We confess our lack of discipline in seeking your Word in Scripture and your comfort and
guidance in prayer.
(silence)
We regret that although in our heads we know that we are called to forgive others as we are
forgiven, we still hold grudges and hurts against our brothers and sisters.
We confess these to you Lord, seeking your healing.
(silence)
We turn once again to you Lord, in humility and awe, and seek forgiveness. Lord, hear our
prayer.
