HYMN 305 ‘Let earth and heaven combine’ PRAYERS OF GOD’S PEOPLE Loving and gracious God, We come to you with our prayers for our world, for our families and for ourselves. We pray that the pandemic which is affecting our world may come to an end in a short time. We pray that an effective vaccine may be found to combat this virus and we ask that you guide the scientists around the world who are working on this. There is so much suffering in so many countries, Lord. We pray for all the world leaders that are taking steps to protect their people. Give them courage and wisdom and guide them, Lord. We pray for those who have already lost loved ones to the virus that they may turn to you for comfort. We pray for those countries which do not have the resources to keep their people safe. Lord, be with those people and we think particularly of highly populated areas like India and countries of Africa. Lord, this is a time when we are being called to care for our neighbour to love them and to do all that we can to help them. We pray for the wonderful health care workers, doctors, nurses, counsellors, police and many others who are themselves being put at risk by going out to help others. Keep them safe Lord and surround them with your love. May they feel your presence in all that they do. Finally, Lord, we pray for our loved ones – our close relatives, our neighbours, our friends, and we bring those people to you Lord…………. Guide us and help us personally Lord, to keep our faith alive and strong and show us ways we can help others. We pray now the Lord’s Prayer and keep it close to our hearts and minds…. THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father in heaven Hallowed be your name Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever.
